Ibanez are a prestigous Japanese make of guitars, electric and acoustic, and they specialize in guitars for shred metal, heavy metal and other genres which involve lots of fretwork, and a lot of pressure on the whammi bar.(let alone the strings!)
They mainly (although some cheaper models dont)are equiped with useful adittions, such as locking tuners, that keep the strings in tune, and very low actions (the distance between the fretboard and the strings) which improve playing speed. Also they are equiped with very high quality Floyd Rose tremelos, which allow for very exaggerated whamying. They are played by a number of famous shredders, but I am going to mention Joe Satriani, who is soon touring England (and im going to watch him!)
